The Faculty of Engineering in Helwan organized a training course in cooperation with the National Institute for Intellectual Property on the basics of intellectual property for engineering students, held under the patronage of Dr. Sayed Qandil, President of the University, Dr. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud El-Maslawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Helwan, Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Bahloul, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, at the Faculty of Engineering headquarters in Helwan.
The course was lectured by Dr. Yasser Gadallah, Dean of the National Institute for Intellectual Property.
For his part, Dr. Sayed Kandil praised the efforts of the college in this field in line with the university's orientations towards supporting innovation and creativity, and enhancing the research environment in line with the modern requirements of the labor market, as understanding intellectual property rights is not only a legal issue, but is part of the professional development process for engineers, as it enables them to protect their ideas and inventions and exploit them optimally, adding that the university will continue its support for these important initiatives and will work to enhance cooperation with various parties to spread awareness of intellectual property rights in the academic and professional community.
Dr. Imad Aboueldahab stated that intellectual property is of great importance to the rights of innovators, as intellectual property plays a vital role in the field of scientific research, for several main reasons, including protecting and encouraging innovations, cooperation and partnerships, funding and investment, disseminating knowledge, achieving financial returns, enhancing reputation and prestige, it forms an essential part of the infrastructure of scientific research, and contributes directly to promoting innovation and technological progress.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Maslawi stressed that engineers' understanding of intellectual property can contribute to promoting innovation and creativity, pointing out that protecting ideas and inventions is an essential step to support economic and social development, stressing that this course comes within the state's strategy to preserve property rights to support innovators and preserve their rights.
Dr. Yasser Jadallah's lecture included talking about how to exploit intellectual property rights to achieve material and moral benefits for innovators and engineers, and the audience interacted with the discussions, as students asked many questions about how to protect their ideas and engineering projects.
He also pointed out that the university president has stressed the necessity of registering students' graduation projects at the Intellectual Property Unit and registering those who fulfill them with the competent intellectual property offices.
